Department of Standards Malaysia - Standards Education

In Malaysia, education about standards is spearheaded by the Department of Standards Malaysia as one of the means of increasing the usage of standards. The young generation is targeted with the aim of equipping future generations/leaders with knowledge of standards & conformance to influence the development of quality products & services and to promote quality enculturation. Three main categories of targeted groups are school students, college/university students and young professionals.

What we have done
	Outreach Programme, Awareness Seminar / Symposium To introduce the concept of standards and conformity assessment to the young generation and to inculcate quality culture.
	Essay Competition As a preliminary competition for selection to participate in the National Standards Olympiad.
	National Standards Olympiad To introduce knowledge and ideas about standards and conformance. This competition evaluate the creativity, problem solving skills and team based cooperation among students.
	International Standards Olympiad The competition aimed at raising awareness on standards, amongst the youth, helping them to acquire standardisation skills. In 2019, Malaysia succeed to won the top award for the best of the best team in the competition.
	Train of Trainers (TOT) Programme for teacher to create multiplying effects.
	Young Professionals Programme Educating the young professionals on standards & conformance. Encourage participation of young professionals in standards & accreditation activities. One day workshop & technical visit.
	Engagement with Universities MOU with Universities Capacity building programmes
