Qualification and certification of personnel
for NDT in civil engineering (NDT-CE)

This document specifies the requirements for the qualification and certification of personnel who perform non-destructive testing in the civil engineering (NDT-CE) sector focusing on concrete structures using the following methods. Within the context of NDT-CE, all listed below are referred to as NDT-CE methods:

a)         acoustic emission testing;

b)         carbonation test;

c)         chloride test;

d)         computed tomography;

e)         cover meter;

f)          dynamic tests;

g)         flat jack test;

h)         ground penetrating radar;

i)          impact echo;

j)          leak testing;

k)         parallel seismic test;

l)          penetration resistance test;

m)        potential mapping;

n)         pull off test;

o)         pull out test;

p)         radiographic testing;

q)         rebound hammer;

r)          resistivity measurement;

s)         strain gauge testing;

t)          thermographic testing;

u)         ultrasonic pulse echo;

v)         ultrasonic pulse velocity; and

w)        visual testing.

The system specified in this document is also applicable to other NDT-CE methods, provided a comprehensive scheme of certification exists. Additionally, the NDT-CE method must be covered by international, regional, or national standards, or it must be demonstrated to be effective to the satisfaction of the certification body.

NOTE 1 This document specifies requirements for third-party conformity assessment schemes, which involve independent organizations organisations evaluating and certifying the qualifications of personnel in NDT-CE. These requirements do not directly apply to conformity assessments conducted by second parties (such as clients evaluating suppliers) or first parties (such as self-assessments by the organisation). However, relevant parts of this document can be referenced or utilized in such arrangements to ensure a level of consistency and reliability in the qualification and certification process.

This document specifies the requirements for unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) solid wall pipes with smooth internal and external surfaces, extruded from the same formulation throughout the wall, fittings and piping systems intended to be used for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage under the following conditions:

a)    buried in ground outside the building structure (application area code "U"); and

b)    both buried in ground, within the building structure and outside the building (application area code "UD").

NOTE        The intended use is reflected in the marking of products by "U" or "UD".

It also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this document. This document covers a range of nominal sizes, a range of pipes and fittings series and a range of stiffness classes and gives recommendations concerning colours.

NOTE        It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selection from these aspects, taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes.

It is applicable to PVC-U pipes and fittings, their joints and to joints with components of other plastics and non-plastics materials intended for buried piping systems for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage.

Protection against lightning – Part 2: Risk management (IEC 62305-2:2024, IDT)

Provides risk management of a structure due to lightning flashes to earth.

Its purpose is to provide a procedure for the evaluation of such a risk. Once an upper tolerable limit for the risk has been selected, this procedure provides a means for the selection of appropriate protection measures to be adopted to reduce the risk to or below the tolerable limit.

Risk management also includes the evaluation of frequency of damage of internal systems caused by surges due to lightning flashes to earth.

MS 2085:2008

Domestic and similar electronic equipment interconnection requirements - Peritelevision connector (BS EN 50049-1:1998)

MS 2085:2008 which is technically identical to BS EN 50049-1:1998 has become outdated following the withdrawal of the international standard by British Standards Institution (BSI) in 2014. As a result, the standard is no longer applied by industry in Malaysia.

Therefore, NSC 19 has agreed to withdraw MS 2085:2008 without replacement.

MS IEC 60107-1:2008 which is identical to IEC 60107-1:1997 is technologically obsolete and no longer aligned with current industry requirements.

Therefore, NSC 19 has agreed to withdraw MS IEC 60107-1:2008 without replacement.

MS IEC 60598-2-9:2001 which is identical to IEC 60598-2-9:1987+AMD. 1:1993 has become outdated following the withdrawal of the international standard by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in October 2019. As a result, the standard is no longer applied by industry in Malaysia.

Therefore, NSC 19 has agreed to withdraw MS IEC 60598-2-9:2001 without replacement.

MS IEC 60598-2-24:2006 which is identical to IEC 60598-2-24:1997 has become outdated following the withdrawal of the international standard by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in June 2013. As a result, the standard is no longer applied by industry in Malaysia.

Therefore, NSC 19 has agreed to withdraw MS IEC 60598-2-24:2006 without replacement.

MS IEC 60966-3-2:2007 which is identical to IEC 60966-3-2:2003 is technologically obsolete and no longer aligned with current industry requirements.

Therefore, NSC 19 has agreed to withdraw MS IEC 60966-3-2:2007 without replacement.
