Installation of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system

This Malaysian Standard sets out the general installation requirements for grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) arrays with direct current (DC) open circuit voltages up to 1 500 V between positive and negative conductors or up to ± 1 500 V with respect to earth.

1.     This includes the following PV array configurations:

a)     single string of modules;

b)     multi-string PV array; and

c)     PV array divided into several sub-arrays.

2.     DC systems and photovoltaic systems in particular, pose some hazards in addition to those derived from conventional alternate current (AC) power systems, including the ability to produce and sustain electrical arcs with currents that are not much greater than normal operating currents. This standard addresses the safety requirements arising from the particular characteristics of photovoltaic systems. Those characteristics are presented in Annex A.

The objective of this standard is to provide guidelines on grid-connected PV system installation and electrical safety requirements for:

a)    uninformed persons, including owner(s)/occupier(s) and users of the premises where photovoltaic arrays are installed;

b)    informed persons, including PV service providers and workers (e.g. electricians) working on these systems; and

c)     emergency workers.

This Malaysian Standard specifies requirements for different products of palm olein i.e. the low-melting fraction obtained from a one-stage fractionation process of Malaysian palm oil through any of the following three processes:

a)    Dry fractionation through crystallisation of the oil by controlled cooling and subsequent filtration.

b)    Detergent fractionation through crystallisation of the oil by controlled cooling and separation of the fractions after addition of a surface active agent; after fractionation, the surface active agent is removed by washing.

c)    Solvent fractionation through controlled crystallisation of the oil in a solvent followed by separation of the fractions; after separation, the solvent is removed by distillation.

Light electric vehicle battery swapping - Part 2: Safety requirements

This document provides a safety requirement in a battery swapping system (BSSys), for the purposes of swapping swappable battery system (SBS) of light electric vehicles (LEVs). The BSSys is intended to be connected to the supply network. The power supply is up to 1 000 V AC or up to 1 500 V DC in accordance with IEC 60038.

This standard also applies to BSSys supplied from on-site storage systems (e.g. buffer batteries) and for LEV equipped with one or more SBS. Aspects covered in this standard includes:

a)         safety requirements of the BSSys and/or its systems;

b)         security requirements for communication;

c)         electromagnetic compatibility (EMC);

d)         signs and instructions;

e)         protection against electric shock and other hazards.

NOTE. BSSys for LEVs according to the IEC 61851-3 series 1 are under consideration.

This standard is not applicable to:

a)         aspects related to maintenance and service of the battery swapping station (BSS);

b)         trolley buses, rail vehicles and vehicles designed primarily for use off-road;

c)         maintenance and service of LEVs.
